Dr. Jackson is a native of Jackson, Mississippi and was raised in Birmingham, Alabama. He is a graduate of King College in Bristol, Tennessee with a degree in Molecular/General Biology. He earned his medical degree at University of Alabama - Birmingham. He completed his pediatric internship and residency at Carolina's Medical Center in Charlotte, North Carolina. Following his residency, he joined MAPA in July 2003. He and his wife, Sarah, live in Asheville with their son and two daughters.
Dr. Jackson shared that one of his most memorable times at MAPA was his first night on call. The MAPA crew (having a tremendous sense of humor that sometimes can't be contained) decided that Dr. Jackson's first "after hours sick clinic" patient needed to be one to remember. The patient's complaints listed were a wet nose and droopy ears. At that point he should have known something was up. Dr. Jackson opened the exam room door - he was greeted with two large stuffed bunnies and a roomful of their stuffed animal offspring.
When Dr. Jackson is not practicing pediatrics, he enjoys family time, Bible study, hiking, carpentry, and yard work.
Dr. Jackson shares with parents "loving, strong, consistent parenting is your greatest investment."
